Details on the items of the programme:

Meet Professionals Day!

Meeting selected business partners in the city.

Meeting Place Berlin not only offered the opportunity to get to know Berlin. As a hosted buyer, you could also specify which of the partners you preferred to meet at the Meet Professionals Day. Appointments were made well in advance.
The meeting took place at the Berlin Congress Center (BCC), where hosted buyers were able to talk to the service providers of their choice without being interrupted, and at a desk set up specifically for their purposes.
Very soon, new business contacts emerged from these meetings, and customers from all over Europe are benefiting from these even today.

Meet Facilities Day!

Discover the possibilities.

On Meet Facilities Day, the major conference facilities of Berlin opened their doors, and hosted buyers were shown around the premises in small groups. State-of-the-art technology, a stylish ambiance and a host of different rooms were presented, and new possibilities for congresses, symposia and conferences emerged.
Some of the hosted buyers took advantage of the contacts to Berlin service providers made at the Meet Professionals Day and continued site inspections off their own bat, discovering a few of the city’s more unusual locations.

“I’m really surprised at what Berlin has to offer, at the range of conference facilities, at how well it’s all organised."
Wayland Amy, Optimum Meetings & Incentives, Montreal, Canada

Meet Berlin Day!

Berlin air by land and water.

Berlin’s air is legendary, no matter whether by land or by water. On Meet Berlin Day participants were able to experience Berlin from a special perspective and actually feel the flair of this city. The adventurous among the hosted buyers went on the Trabi Safari in the morning. A short but very special tour of the city in an original Trabi car through the pulsating streets of Berlin, accompanied by members of the People’s Police dressed in their original uniforms carrying out the strict safety controls that were common at the time of the GDR. Those who felt like it got behind the driving wheel themselves. The gentlemen were absolutely thrilled, and even some of the ladies soon lost their heart to this small two-stroke car.
No less exciting was the subsequent tour of the city on MS Sanssouci, one of the most beautiful ships of the river Spree. During lunch, it took guests past numerous historical sites and a host of tourist features. Next, Berlin’s largest and most elegant department store, KaDeWe, welcomed participants to the famous ‘Lichthof’ on its 6th floor, where they were invited to indulge in the delicacies served at the champagne reception and enjoyed the fabulous view over Kurfürstendamm. Many of the participants spent the remaining time going on shopping expeditions round the close-by boutiques or had themselves taken wherever they wanted by one of the many pedicabs.

Welcome to Berlin

The Berlin Welcome Reception

The prelude to Meeting Place Berlin took place at the Berlin Olympic Stadium. In a festive atmosphere, hosted buyers, Berlin service providers and representatives of the host hotels were guided down the stands to meet for a first get-together. On arriving inside the stadium, they were welcomed by Klaus Wowereit, the Governing Mayor or Berlin, who had already been expecting them. An exquisite ‘flying buffet’ spoiled guests before the evening culminated in the “Ring of Fire" which made the Berlin Olympic Stadium emerge in its new splendour.

Berlin Classic

An open air concert with the Berlin Symphony Orchestra

The Berlin Classic evening was entirely dedicated to great voices. It took place on what is presumably one of the most beautiful squares in the world, the Berlin Gendarmenmarkt. As part of the 14th Classic Open Air, stars Lucia Aliberti and Albert Montserrat were accompanied by the Berlin Symphony Orchestra. Infatuating the audience with breathtaking Italian, Spanish and French duets, a flair of internationality emerged in front of the dignified scenery. On that night, you could actually feel Europe.

“When you stay in Berlin, you feel that you’re staying in Europe."
Wanda Savonazzi, CpA, Rom, Italy

Berlin Surprise

Hosts surprised their guests with heavenly creations

In their exquisite ambience, the 5-star host hotels pampered their guests with gourmet specialities and served up some truly amazing 6 course meals. This evening, for instance, was set in one of the 5-star Rococo-style hotels. The cosy atmosphere was an inspiration for many personal conversations.

Berlin Club Night

Nightlife, lifestyle, dance and more...

Berlin is open 24 hours a day, and its innumerable bars, clubs and lounges have made it an international trendsetter. The Club Night at Meeting Place Berlin began with an early evening buffet. It continued with the “Blue Man Show", an absolutely thrilling performance bursting with energy which is unparalleled in Europe. The rhythm of the night had begun and wasn’t to loose its fascination too soon, since at Adagio, one of the most stylish clubs of the city, nightlife was already in full swing. Hosted buyers and service providers joined in with the colourful mixture of Berlin’s party people, dancing to the hot beats of the city until the early morning hours.

“Europe’s most exciting city."
